Upon receipt of an inquiry, an evaluation checklist form is filled out and referred to a specific person for investigation. That staff person will contact the inquirer within a week of when the inquiry was received. This may be in the form of a phone call.  A letter acknowledging the receipt will also be mailed with the assigned inquiry number.

The City of Mequon, in concert with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), has worked to improve the area waterways by reducing the pollutants contained in storm water runoff.

The City has initiated a Stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) compliance certification program. In 1997 the Common Council adopted an Ordinance requiring BMP maintenance and certification. Stormwater management has been, and continues to be, a high priority for the City. This initiative is intended to improve stormwater runoff in your neighborhood, as well as for the downstream property owners. Residential and Commercial developments are notified prior to final plat or occupancy how the program works and the various requirements.

Projects in the City of Mequon are required to follow the City of Mequon stormwater rules, WDNR NR 151 rules and MMSD Chapter 13 rules.  Many projects trigger some or all of the stormwater requirements.  Working directly with a civil engineer versed in stormwater management can help navigate the technical details.
