Bee City USA

On February 14, 2017, the Common Council adopted Resolution 3425 designating the City of Mequon as a Bee City USA®.  The purpose of the designation is to educate people of all ages regarding the importance of bees.

Bee City USA is a nonprofit national organization which encourages city leaders to celebrate and raise awareness of the contribution bees and other pollinators make to our world by endorsing a set of commitments, defined in a resolution, for creating sustainable habitats for pollinators. A designated Bee City USA is expected to annually celebrate being a Bee City USA community with a proclamation and public awareness activities; publicly acknowledge commitment to the program through signage and web links; and annually report activities to Bee City USA to renew the designation. The Mequon Nature Preserve has partnered with the City as the liaison and designated facilitator of educational programming on bees for the community.
