About Us

The Office of the City Clerk is a time-honored and vital unit of local government that provides an essential link between citizens and their local governing body.  The City Clerk performs all duties as prescribed by Wisconsin Statutes 62.09(11), including but not limited to: issuing licenses and permits, conducting elections, maintaining papers and records, attending all meetings of the Common Council and keeping records of proceedings.

 


 

Department Mission Statement

The City of Mequon’s overall mission is the provision of quality public services and adoption of thoughtful policies that serve to enhance and maintain the unique quality of life of our community.  Through the judicious use of community resources, the City is committed to managing growth, efficiently using tax dollars and making wise investments in our future.  Our success depends on our ability to offer quality and value to our taxpayers with the highest standards of accountability, responsiveness, economy and integrity.

 


 

Elections
 

2023 Accomplishments

  • Successfully conducted four elections including two special elections.
  • Began introduction of electronic poll books (Badger Books) at four more polling sites.
  • Relocated the Trinity Lutheran polling site to the Frank L. Weyenberg Library.
  • Ensured voter roll accuracy by investigating and purging over 1400 inactive records. 
  • Launched poll worker training & scheduling in preparation for 2024.
  • Conducted outreach to our six Residential Care Facilities, including the introduction of one brand new site. 

2024 Objectives

  • Successfully manage three elections including a Presidential Primary and General Election. 
  • Expand electronic poll books to all voting sites.
  • Provide informative and plentiful training opportunities to all City poll workers.

2023 Accomplishments

  • Built out Munis Licensing for 2024 go-live.
  • Accurately and timely processed 334 permits/licenses
  • Continued cross training staff on departmental duties.

2024 Objectives

  • Fully implement business licensing (Munis).
  • Streamline Open Records Request procedures and provide additional training to repeat responders.
  • Hire/Train new Deputy Clerk
  • Select a new Agenda Management vendor.
