Bartender

Operator (bartender) licenses are issued to those wishing to serve fermented malt beverages and intoxicating liquor in establishments in the City of Mequon.  The Operator’s License is issued for up to two years.

To apply for a license the applicant must:

  • Be 18 years of age
  • Provide a certificate indicating you have completed a responsible beverage server training course within the last two years from a Department of Revenue approved course.You can find approved courses at https://www.revenue.wi.gov/training/alcSellerServer.html, or
  • Have been issued an operator (bartender) license within the last two years

Complete the application:

  • If you have any violations include date and municipality.
  • Failure to report items may lead to a denial of your license.
  • A copy your Driver’s license or State ID will be made.

License fees (Cash or check only accepted):

  • New or renewal        $100.00
  • Temporary                  $10.00

A background investigation will be conducted by the Police Department and a recommendation will be forwarded to the City Clerk for approval/denial:  Please allow up to a week for this process.  

Please note in accordance with City of Mequon Ordinances Section 14-25:  In the event a license application is either denied by the city or voluntarily withdrawn by the applicant prior to the issuance of the license, the fee paid with respect to such application shall be non-refundable.
