Plan Review and Fire Inspections

Plan Review:  The Department also reviews major commercial building plans. Whereas the inspections department is concerned with compliance with code requirements, the Fire Department is concerned with proper road access, water supply for fire suppression and automatic fire detection and suppression devices.

Fire Inspections: Over 600 buildings and businesses have a fire inspection performed bi-annually. The State Department of Commerce requires these inspections. Fire inspections insure that the premises being inspected comply with various code requirements and serve to identify and eliminate hazards that could lead to a fire.

Fire Alarm Systems:  No permit for a fire alarm system is required by the Mequon Fire Department, however, an electrical permit is required.  Questions on the permit?  Contact the Inspection Department directly at 262-242-8783.  Please see the City of Mequon’s Inspection Department’s Electrical Permit Application below.

Sprinkler Installation Requirements:  The Department would like to ensure efficient communication on your building project.  All new sprinkler installations and/or modifications require a plumbing permit through the City of Mequon and review/test/inspections by the fire department.  Questions on the permit?  Contact the Inspection Department directly at 262-242-8783.  See sprinkler installation requirements and plumbing permit below for your project.
