COVID-19 Update for the Week Ending Friday, July 17
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19.

  • As of this update, the State has 40,507 reported cases of COVID-19 and 833 associated deaths in Wisconsin.  Of the cases in Wisconsin, 375 reported cases of COVID-19 and 17 related deaths are in Ozaukee County, based on information from the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD).
  • The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has launched a COVID-19 Test Result Hotline for individuals tested at National Guard testing sites in Milwaukee County.  Get your results by calling the Wisconsin COVID-19 Results Line at (866) 419-6988.
  • The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends all people 2 years of age and older wear a cloth face covering in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. The cloth face covering helps prevent a person who is sick from spreading the virus via respiratory droplets to others.
  • The FBI has warned that fraudsters are using the pandemic as a means to defraud people into becoming money mules, which are people who knowingly or unknowingly move illicit money through funds transfers, physical movement of cash, or other methods.

Community Pool Adjusting Hours of Operation
As staff continues to review pool operations, bath house attendants record hourly admittance to the pool.  The numbers show that the first session (currently 12:30 - 4:00 p.m.) is well attended, but the second session (currently 4:30 - 8:00 p.m.) is less popular. In the absence of swim lessons in 2020, there is an opportunity to revise the hours of operation to accommodate additional patrons and thereby allowing for increased attendance during the warmer, daytime hours. Effective July 18, weekend hours will be revised to 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. Starting August 1, daily hours will be revised to 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. So far this summer, June attendance (June 12-30) reached 1,501 and July attendance (through July 12) is 3,327.

Finance Department Publishes 2019 Popular Annual Financial Report
The Finance Department recently posted the City’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) to the City’s website. The PAFR is a summary of the City’s financial activities and is intended to increase awareness throughout the community of the financial operations of the City. Within this document, the City’s Governmental Funds are placed in a clear, concise and more simplified format for the general public to read and understand.  The financial information within the report is taken in large part from the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which was accepted by the Common Council in June. Each year, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) honors municipalities with an award for outstanding financial documents that comply with its strict standards. Over the last five years, Mequon is one of only five Wisconsin municipalities to win awards for its PAFR, CAFR, and Budget all within the same fiscal year.
