Common Council Meetings in 2022
The August and November Common Council meetings will occur on Wednesday instead of Tuesday in 2022.  The second Tuesday of August and November are election days.  Because these elections take place on a normal Council night, the Council meeting will be moved to Wednesday, August 10 and Wednesday, November 9.  Please mark your calendars.

Vaccine Clinics Scheduled to Return January 17 - 21
The City had another successful round of vaccine clinics last week, administering nearly 600 influenza, COVID, and booster shots in four days.  Midland Health will return to City Hall on January 17 through January 21 from 2:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. for another clinic for all eligible age groups, age 5 and up.  Appointments can be made here. Walk-ins and non-Mequon residents are welcome to participate.

WisDOT Provides a Preview of Major Construction Activities
As the New Year approaches, the first year of major construction activities for the I-43 North-South Reconstruction Project commences.  Design teams have finalized all plans for the North End (Highland Road to WIS 60), as well as the County Line Road and Port Washington Road Interchange Segments, with construction scheduled to begin early 2022.  See the attached December Project Newsletter for additional details, including information regarding recently approved noise barriers.

Highland Road Water Main Relocation Nearing Completion
The main line installation of the water main relocation on Highland Road is complete. Testing and sampling began on December 29 and will continue into January. The project is on schedule to be completed by February 1, 2022.  For more detailed information on the project, please visit the City website

Christmas Tree Pick-up Continues Through January 28
The City of Mequon began collecting Christmas trees on December 28 and will continue through January 28, weather permitting.  In the event it snows and one’s Christmas tree is still at the end of the driveway, please clean it out as the City will not unbury trees. The Highway Department requests all trees to be placed on the RIGHT SIDE of the driveway.  Also please note, the City will not pick-up wreaths, garland, or any other decorations. City Offices Close for New Year’s Holiday
Non-emergency City Offices will be closed starting at noon on Friday, December 31, and all day on Monday, January 3 in observance of the New Year. Non-emergency City Offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 4 at 8:00 A.M.

Mequon-Thiensville Together Food and Book Drive
Homestead High School AP Literature teachers and students invite the community to participate in a food and book drive benefiting Family Sharing of Ozaukee County.  Donations will be accepted starting January 4 through February 1 at Homestead High School, Range Line Community Center, Frank L. Weyenberg Library, Outpost Natural Foods, Piggly Wiggly, and Metro Market.  Gently used books, toilet paper, diapers, and non-perishable food items are the requested donation items.  Please see the attached letter for additional details.

Community Blood Drive to Take Place on January 7
The first Mequon Community Blood Drive of 2022 will take place at Mequon City Hall, 11333 N. Cedarburg Road, from 7:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. on Friday, January 7. Spots are limited and donors are encouraged to sign-up in advance. Please click here to reserve a spot. 

Winter Reading Challenge at the Library
Join the Frank L. Weyenberg Library’s 2021-2022 Winter Reading Challenge, A Blizzard of Books! The program is designed for children in grades K – 8.  This challenge will encourage young readers to read books in a variety of genres and formats.  They will need to complete at least 6 of 12 challenges by February 12 to be entered into a prize drawing for a pair of snow molds.  Sign-up here.
