​Mequon-Thiensville School District to Host a Community Conversation on School Safety
The Mequon-Thiensville School District is hosting a community conversation to identify what is most important to parents, students, staff members and other stakeholders regarding security in schools. The event is scheduled to be held at Homestead High School from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 26. The Community Conversation will include a presentation on the District’s current state as well as small and large group discussion sessions. Please see the attached flyer for more information and details on how to RSVP for the event.

City Begins Information Technology Internship Program
The City Administrator’s Office and the IT Coordinator developed an IT Internship program designed to recruit students from local area colleges for a multiyear internship. This opportunity provides both academic credit and year-round limited part-time employment. This IT Internship will enhance available IT support resources for the City. Ethan Danz started this week as the first IT Intern in this new program. Ethan is triple majoring in computer science, communications/marketing, and philosophy at Concordia University-Wisconsin. Ethan is a Resident Assistant at his University and has worked for over four years with the elderly at Torchmark in Appleton, Wisconsin. Two of Ethan’s main goals this year is to re-design the computer training room at City Hall and become the lead trainer for Office 365, which will be implemented in late summer.

City to Test New Electronic Poll Books
At the April 3 election, the City of Mequon, Pieper Power Education Center (PPEC) polling location will be testing electronic poll books. This will be one of only five polling sites in Wisconsin that will be doing the testing, so it is a great opportunity to see what the future of elections could entail. Those interested in finding out more about the process, are invited to a public demonstration of the equipment on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. – 5:30 P.M. at the PPEC located on 8200 W. County Line Road. All are welcome to attend and observe, ask questions and even test the use of the equipment. It will be an informal demonstration and visitors are welcome to come any time during the demonstration to test the equipment. Staff from the Wisconsin Election Commission will be on hand to answer questions about usability and security. Any questions should be directed to City Clerk Caroline Fochs at 262-236-2912.

County-Wide Radio System Upgrade Agreement To Go Before Public Safety Committee
On March 7, the Ozaukee County Board approved an intergovernmental agreement for the County-Wide radio system upgrade. The agreement will go before the Public Safety Committee later this month and it is anticipated to be on the Common Council’s agenda for consideration in April. If approved, the agreement would allow the County to begin installation of new equipment in the second half of April.

Ozaukee County SWAT Team Practice Completed
On Tuesday, March 13, the County-Wide Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) held a training session at the Logemann Community Center in which the SWAT Team practiced a wide number of tactics and exercises. The area was closed off to the public during the training session.

Mid-Moraine Municipal Court Releases Positive Numbers for January
Compared to January of 2017, the Mid-Moraine Municipal Court’s gross revenue was up by 1.58% or $3,313 in January of 2018. Additionally, the City also saw a 10.81% increase in the total number of citations processed compared to the same point last year, which equates to an additional 24 citations being processed in January of 2018. Additionally, the total amount of fines paid to the City is down 1.31% or $142 less than the same point in 2017. Please see the attached summary from the Court for additional detail.
