COVID-19 Update for the Week Ending Friday, October 9
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19.

  • As of this afternoon, the State has had 144,818 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,440  associated deaths. Of the cases in Wisconsin, 1,597 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 19 related deaths have been in Ozaukee County, based on information from the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD).

  • On Thursday, October 8, Emergency Order Number 3 from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services went into effect. The new Order limits the size of public indoor gatherings to no more than 25% of a building’s occupancy capacity. According to Emergency Order 3, the definition of a public gathering is an indoor event, convening, or collection of individuals, whether planned or spontaneous, that is open to the public and brings together people who are not part of the same household in a single room. The Order does exempt several types of businesses, such as childcare facilities, K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and human services organizations. Please see Emergency Order Number 3 or the State’s Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Document for more information and a listing of all exemptions.

Mequon businesses may find a building’s total occupancy capacity by reviewing the approved site plans for the facility, or by contacting Deputy Fire Chief Kurt Zellmann in the Fire Inspections Bureau at (262) 242-8787 / kzellmann@ci.mequon.wi.us.
