COVID-19 Update for the Week Ending Friday, October 30
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19.

  • As of this afternoon, the State has recorded 220,092 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,972  associated deaths. Of the cases in Wisconsin, 2,495 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 25 related deaths have been in Ozaukee County, based on information from the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD).
  • The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released guidance recommending that passengers and crews wear masks while on public transportation.
  • The CDC updated its guidance regarding close contacts. Individuals are considered close contacts after spending a total of 15 minutes within 6 feet of an infected person. Previously individuals were required to spend 15 consecutive minutes within 6 feet of an infected person.
  • The Environmental Protection Agency maintains a list of cleaning products believed to kill SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The agency also developed a tool for consumers to verify which household products can kill the virus.

Please help the City limit the spread of COVID-19 in the community by wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, avoiding large gatherings, following proper hygiene practices and staying home when sick.

Absentee Ballots Due by 8:00 p.m. (SHARP!) on Election Night
Next week, all absentee ballots are due by 8:00 p.m. on Election Night, Tuesday, November 3 in order to be counted.  Voters can use the secure drop box at City Hall now through the end of day Monday, which is open 24 hours, or deliver them directly to the City Clerk’s Office. On Tuesday, ballots must be delivered to the appropriate polling location. If voting absentee, please be sure to sign the certification envelope and have a witness sign it, with their address also listed.

Police Department Sees Increased Thefts from Vehicles
The Police Department is seeing an uptick in both stolen vehicles and thefts from vehicles over the last week within the community. All thefts have been from unlocked vehicles, some of which have keys and garage door openers inside, resulting in garages being entered. The thefts are occurring during the overnight hours between midnight - 5:00 a.m. The affected area has primarily been the southeast portion of the City. The Department would like to remind residents that crime in Mequon is primarily a case of opportunity. Please lock vehicles, do not leave keys or valuables in vehicles, and remove the garage door opener, if vehicles are left outside. Please report any suspicious people or vehicles to the Mequon Police Department. If any residents immediately observe this behavior, call 911. If any community member has information to assist the Department, please call the non-emergency number at: (262) 242-3500.

Lokre Companies Satisfies Civic Campus Parking Lot Contribution
The Civic Campus Parking Lot was designed and funded through a public private/partnership between the City and Lokre Companies, owners of Town Center One (MTC 1) at the corner of Cedarburg and Mequon Roads.  The partnership, a stated objective of many Town Center plans, resulted in the reconstruction of the public parking lot that serves the civic campus as well as residents, patrons and visitors throughout the broader neighborhood. To date, Lokre has fulfilled their financial obligations of the development agreement in which MTC1 ownership contributed to the cost of the design and construction of 42 parking spaces. An initial, partial payment was made in 2019 and now the final balance, which has been paid in full, has been received and deposited.
