Nomination Papers Available for Mayor and Alderman
Candidates can begin circulating nomination papers on December 1 for the local aldermanic and mayoral seats up for reelection in 2022.  Those races on the ballot on April 5, 2022 will be Aldermen in Districts 1 and 4, and the Mayor.  If a primary election is needed to narrow candidates to two, that will be held on February 15, 2022.  Nomination papers can be picked up in the Clerk’s Office, or can be found on the City’s website.

Vaccine Clinics at City Hall Succeed in Putting Shots in Arms
The City partnered with Midland Health last week to hold Covid-19, Influenza, and Booster Vaccine Clinics at City Hall.  Nearly 400 vaccines were given, with 57 being the newly eligible group of children ages 5 - 11.  Vaccines will be given again on December 6, 7, 9 & 10 and appointments can be made here.

Washington County to Host Public Information Meeting
The Washington County Highway Department will hold a public meeting on Thursday, December 2 from 5:30 P.M. – 6:30 P.M. at Village Hall in Germantown to give a brief presentation of the CTH M improvement project.  See the attached Public Notice for more details.

Ozaukee County Tax Notification System is Available
Tax season is almost here.  While tax bills will not be available until early December, residents can subscribe now to receive notifications regarding certain events pertaining to their property taxes.  The Ozaukee County Text and Email Notification System service has the ability to send automated notifications when 1) A tax bill is available, 2) A tax bill has been paid, 3) An installment payment is due, and 4) Taxes are delinquent.  This is a complimentary service, although data and messaging rates may apply based on the agreement with one’s provider.  Residents can subscribe to the program here and program instructions can be found at this link.  

City Offices Closed in Observance of Thanksgiving Holiday
All non-emergency City offices will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26.  All offices will resume normal business hours beginning at 8:00 A.M. on Monday, November 29.

Small Business Saturday is November 27
Small Business Saturday is the “Shopping Holiday” between Black Friday and Cyber Monday where consumers are encouraged to #ShopSmall.  This year, Small Business Saturday will be observed on Saturday, November 27, 2021.  As a direct result of the challenges COVID-19 continues to present to small businesses, residents’ patronage is more important than ever.  Get out there and show your support this Saturday!

New Trail Kiosks at Mequon Nature Preserve
Thanks to a generous donation from WE Energies, there are two new trail kiosks at Mequon Nature Preserve (MNP).  These kiosks are located at the Swan Road and Donges Bay Road parking lots. The kiosks feature a map of the trails, information about MNP, and more.  Check them out on your next visit!

Spice of the Month Kits at the Library
If you like to try new flavors and recipes when cooking, pick up a new Spice of the Month Kit.  The Frank L. Weyenberg Library is now handing out Spice of the Month kits on the first day of the month. Each month a new spice and three recipes will be featured. Supplies will be limited to the first 20 participants, but copies of the recipes are available on the Adult Events page.  The Spice of the Month for December is Juniper Berries.  Then start the new year with Garam Masala. Please share the photos of your creations on the Library’s Facebook page. 

Donate a Toy to the Kapco Kids2Kids Toy Drive
The Mequon-Thiensville Young Professionals, along with the greater Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a drop off bin for the Kapco Kids2Kids Toy Drive.  Please donate an unwrapped toy by December 10 and help provide holiday cheer.  The drop off bin location is open during normal business hours at Spectrum Investment Advisors, 6329 W. Mequon Road.
