WIS 57 and Donges Bay Road to Close on June 13
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is advising that work along WIS 57 (Cedarburg Road) will affect access to/from Donges Bay Road and along WIS 57 in the coming weeks. Department contractors will be constructing a sanitary sewer as well as installing new traffic signals and widening the intersection of WIS 57 with Donges Bay Road. Additionally, the existing WIS 57 pavement will be milled and resurfaced from County Line Road to just south of WIS 167 (Mequon Road).  Donges Bay Road, between Wauwatosa Road and Cedarburg Road, is scheduled to fully close Monday, June 13 through late summer 2022. Motorists will need to utilize Donges Bay Road, Wauwatosa Road, Mequon Road, and WIS 57 (local access only), to get around the Donges Bay Road closure. WIS 57 (Cedarburg Road), between County Line Road and Mequon Road, is scheduled to close to through traffic beginning Monday, June 13 to Monday, June 27. WIS 57 will be fully closed to all traffic at Donges Bay Road from Monday, June 13 to Monday, June 20, and will be fully closed at Sherwood Drive from Monday, June 20 to Monday, June 27. Motorists will need to utilize Wauwatosa Road, Brown Deer Road, and Mequon Road to get around the WIS 57 closure. Roadway resurfacing, from Monday, June 13 through Monday, June 27, will close WIS 57 to all through traffic from County Line Road to Mequon Road. Access will be maintained for local traffic only (traffic with an origin or destination requiring access to/from WIS 57). Local traffic will be required to access from the nearest adjacent alternate route.  For more information regarding these upcoming road projects, see the attached map or visit the Department of Transportation website.

Spend the Summer at the Mequon Pool - Apply Today!
Like other neighboring communities, Mequon is in need of more applicants to fill lifeguard positions this summer. Some communities have made the tough decision to close their pools or not have lifeguards on duty.  Mequon is taking increased steps to attract qualified candidates and has increased hourly wages to $13.50 per hour.  Bathhouse Assistants are needed as well and ages 14 and up are welcome to apply.  Get more information about each position and apply here.

Sewer Work to Begin in Riverdale Park and Riverland Drive
Routine inspection of the sanitary system pipes in the Riverland Drive and Riverdale Park areas revealed numerous joints with infiltration, where groundwater is entering into the sanitary sewer system.  The City has contracted with Visu-Sewer to test and grout nearly four miles of pipe joints and 100 laterals to prevent further infiltration from occurring.

This project uses trenchless technology, so no road cuts are planned. In addition, this phase of work to seal leaks is entirely within the roadway right-of-way.  The grouting work begins next week and is scheduled to continue through Summer 2022 in the Riverland Drive and Riverdale Park areas.  Property owners received notification letters of this work, and will also notice flags locating their building sewer laterals for the future phase to construct lateral access clean-outs this fall.  This lateral work will allow access to clean problematic roots and prevent leaks to preserve the integrity of the sanitary collection system.

Memorial Day Reminders
The Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 will hold the annual Memorial Day Parade at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 30.  The parade will commence at Grace Lutheran Church and travel down Green Bay Road to Main Street, then turn south on Main Street to Mequon City Hall.  Ceremonies will take place in front of Mequon City Hall including an official flag-raising, a rifle salute, and brief comments from dignitaries.  All non-emergency City offices will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
