Thiensville Approves Fire & EMS IGA
On Monday, May 17, the Thiensville Village Board voted 6-1 to approve the Inter-Governmental Agreement to establish a jointly operating fire and emergency services with the City of Mequon.  A five-person Board of Directors has been selected and will include Mequon Mayor Nerbun, Mequon Council President Parrish, Mequon Alderwoman Schneider, Thiensville Village President Mobley, and Thiensville Trustee Eckert.  Joint Services will go into effect on July 1 and the official merger date will occur on January 1, 2023. 

City Will Celebrate a Milestone on Tuesday, May 24
In 1956, the Mequon Town Chairman, Werner Mueller, appointed a committee to look into incorporating the entire Town of Mequon as a city.  After numerous meetings of the committee and public informational meetings, a recommendation was made to the Board of Supervisors to petition the State Legislature to grant to Mequon status as a City.  The 23rd day of May 1957 was set for the referendum and the results were 1,536 in favor and 265 against. Mequon received official status as a city on Friday, May 24, 1957.  Happy 65 Years Mequon!

Community Pool on Track for June Opening
The Community Pool is scheduled for a soft opening on June 4 and 5 from 11:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.. The pool will be closed the following week and reopen for the season on Friday, June 10. Pool passes are currently being sold at the Bath House Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. The Super Pass is available as well and allows residents to also use the Cedarburg, Grafton, and Port Washington pools. Please click here for more details.

Memorial Day Parade Scheduled for Monday, May 30
The Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 will hold the annual Memorial Day Parade at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, May 30.  The parade will commence at Grace Lutheran Church and travel down Green Bay Road to Main Street, then turn south on Main Street to Mequon City Hall.  Ceremonies will take place in front of Mequon City Hall including an official flag-raising, a rifle salute, and brief comments from dignitaries on the meaning of Memorial Day.

Online Enrollment Begins for MTSD Schools on June 1
Online enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year for the Mequon-Thiensville School District begins on June 1.  Returning families will receive an email on June 1 with instructions on completing online enrollment.  Please note that all families must complete online enrollment annually.  Student fees will be assessed on August 1.

Save the Date for Lionfest on June 10 -12
Mark your calendars for the 57th Annual Lionfest which will take place at Thiensville Village Park on June 10, 11, and 12.  There will be music, food, bingo, carnival rides, softball, and Great Lakes Championship Wrestling.  There will be a free shuttle from MATC Mequon.  Don’t miss out on this fun event!
