S&P Assigns Rating to City's General Obligation Debt
On February 24, City staff participated in a teleconference with analysts from Standard & Poors Global Ratings.  The purpose was to assign a credit rating to the City’s general obligation debt in advance of the forthcoming debt issue funding the following:

  • $5M of reconstruction of City local and arterial roads and select parking lots over the next three years.
  • $1.75M for the City’s obligation for construction of the Highland Road Interchange.
  • $2.7M for Town Center public projects which is payable from tax increment generated from TID No. 3.
  • $170k of debt issuance costs.

S&P affirmed the City AA (stable) for both previously issued general obligation debt and the new issue. On March 8, the Finance and Personnel Committee and Common Council will take up the matter of whether to award the sale of the approximately $9.2M 2022A General Obligation Notes that will have occurred earlier that day. To review how S&P rated the City, the full report is attached.

Pier Removed This Week at Rotary Park
At the January 11 Common Council meeting, the Council approved a proposal to remove the dilapidated fishing pier at Rotary Park’s west pond and replace it with a new ADA compliant fishing pier.  On Thursday, the old pier was removed to make room for the new pier to be installed.  The installation is tentatively scheduled to start in the next few weeks and ready for use by early summer.  New fishing platforms and a landscape update around the pond are also part of the project.  Thanks to the Thiensville-Mequon Rotary Foundation for helping to fund these updates.
