City Issues COVID-19 Updates for the Community
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19 and share information with the public. The City is posting updates online, which can be accessed by clicking here, during this emergency as conditions warrant, and as new or updated information becomes available. The City appreciates the patience from Mequon residents and the community at-large as we collectively work through this quickly evolving situation together.

Local Business Resources Now Available
In an effort to stay connected to local businesses and the needs of the business community during the COVID-19 emergency, Director Tollefson participated in the M-T Chamber of Commerce Town Hall meeting earlier this week. There were over 70 participants comprised of business and government representatives. Topics included action steps businesses can take during this emergency, marketing during crisis, and potential government resources. Some highlights from the conversation included:

  • Local banks are prepared to assist and are encouraging businesses to call and seek financial assistance if needed.

  • There are two small business loans (SBA) programs available:

    • The WEDC 20/20 Program can provide greater assistance to those that already have a SBA loan.Information can be found at wwbic.com and medconline.com.

    • A Federal disaster loan is available for businesses. The application review time is projected as less than five days and eligible funds are distributed to recipients within 21 days.

Additional business assistance resources are also available from the Ozaukee Economic Development and the M-T Chamber of Commerce.

Census Day Observed Nationwide April 1
An invitation to complete the 2020 Census should have already been mailed to all homes in the City.  If residents have not already completed the Census, please do so by the deadline, April 1. The information the census collects helps determine the distribution of approximately $675 billion of federal funds and grants for schools, hospitals, roads, and public works projects to communities each year. Locally, the data will be important for helping businesses, schools and the City make decisions about how to invest resources to most effectively serve the public. For more information please visit the Census Bureau’s website.
