Operation and Service Plans for COVID-19
The City of Mequon in coordination with the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department, as well as other state and federal agencies, is closely monitoring the recent increase in respiratory illness caused by a new Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Even though there are no cases reported in the community, the City has implemented proactive measures at its facilities through increased sanitation procedures. The City’s services to the community are currently still in operation. Please see the City’s website by clicking here or the attached document for further information.

Other community organizations are taking precautionary measures as well. The Mequon-Thiensville School District has closed its facilities as of this afternoon and students will not be returning until April 13. Please click here to view the School District’s website for more information. Additionally, the Weyenberg Library has removed toys from circulation at the Library and issued an update about its preparations, which can be viewed by clicking here.

City Updates Absentee Voting Procedures
The April election is approaching in the coming weeks. Those that are limiting contact with others are encouraged to have an absentee ballot mailed to their home. This can be done by visiting www.myvote.wi.gov or by contacting the City Clerk by email at cfochs@ci.mequon.wi.us or by phone at 262-236-2912.  Another option to avoid lines on election day is in-person absentee voting.  In-person absentee voting can be done during the regular business hours from March 23 – April 3.  Staff will be moving this activity to the Council Chambers at City Hall to limit the number personal contacts. The Common Council Chambers are accessible by the Cedarburg Road entrance.

In past elections, Special Voting Deputies routinely visit the Mequon residential care facilities to assist residents voting absentee. Governor Evers issued Executive Order #72 on March 12, which prohibits Special Voting Deputy process to serve residents in care facilities and instead shall transmit absentee ballots to those voters by mail.  For a more complete explanation view the Wisconsin Election Commission’s by clicking here or contact the City Clerk’s Office.
