COVID-19 Update for the Week Ending Friday, June 4
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD) and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

  • As of this update, the State has reported that 5,192,643 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered and 2,462,345 Wisconsin residents have completed the vaccination series.
  • Businesses interested in hosting an employer-based vaccine clinic may contact the WOPHD at covid19@washozwi.gov or call 262-284-8170 to have the COVID-19 vaccine delivered to their establishment.
  • Midland Health will be holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Weyenberg Library from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 11. The Pfizer vaccine will be available for all approved ages.  Anyone interested in receiving the vaccine may schedule an appointment in advance. Walk-in appointments will be available as well, while supplies last. For additional information or inquiries, please call Midland Health at (262) 754-3130.

Please help to continue limiting the spread of COVID-19 in the community by maintaining a safe social distance when necessary, avoiding large gatherings, following proper hygiene practices, and staying home when sick.

Lake Michigan Water Levels Continue to Recede
Water levels on all the Great Lakes continue to remain below their monthly record highs as of May 28, 2021. Lake Michigan is now 17 inches below the highest recorded monthly average in May previously set just last year in 2020. This is the fourth month in a row where the National Bureau of Standards has recorded the lake as being below average. Potentially this signifies a trend in decreasing water levels. Lake Michigan is expected to continue its seasonal spring increase and is predicted to rise between 1-3 inches by next month.  Please click here for further details.

Community Pool Opening This Weekend
The Mequon Community Pool will have a soft opening this weekend, June 5 and 6, between the hours of 11:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.  The pool will be closed next week and reopen for the season at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, June 11. Pool passes can be purchased at the Bath House during regular pool hours.  For an additional fee, residents can add the Super Pass to their Mequon Season Pass to gain access to the Cedarburg, Grafton, and Port Washington pools.  Please click here to view more details.

Community Development Seeks Enforcement Officer
Over the last number of years, the Community Development Department has contracted for code enforcement services.  Enforcement services span a broad range of concerns from grass cutting, home maintenance, sign compliance, outdoor storage, and structure and site compliance, to name a few.  These services are provided on a part-time basis on an average of 20 hours per week.  The current contract for services with Bruce Kress is ending on Friday, June 4.  The Department is seeking both temporary assistance and issuing a Request-for-Qualifications to secure a new contract.  In the meantime, please contact Director Tollefson regarding any new circumstances in your district that require the City’s attention.  Spring and summer are typically high demand seasons, and the Community Development Department staff will do its best to maintain the current level of service in addressing these matters.

Pop-Up Beer Gardens Coming to Mequon Parks
The City of Mequon is excited to announce that 1840 Brewing is now holding a monthly pop-up beer garden series that will take place across five of Mequon’s Community Parks!  The events will be held once a month from May-September.  The first event was held on May 14, at River Barn Park, and plans are in place to gradually increase attendance at each of the upcoming events.  The events take place on Friday nights from 4-8 P.M. and feature live music, games, food trucks, and craft beer.  The dates and locations for the upcoming beer gardens are as follows:

  • June 18 - Mequon Community Park, 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
  • July 16 - Lemke Park Pavilion, 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
  • August 27 - Rotary Park Gazebo, 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
  • September 24 - Rotary Park South Pavilion, 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.

If the summer beer garden series is a success, Mequon hopes to expand the series in the future with not only 1840, but possibly additional breweries.  Keep an eye on the City of Mequon’s Facebook page for additional information on these upcoming events!
