COVID-19 Update for the Week Ending Friday, June 18
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD) and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19.

Please help to continue limiting the spread of COVID-19 in the community by maintaining a safe social distance when necessary, following proper hygiene practices, and staying home when sick.

Gateway Promenade Project Nearing Completion
The gateway feature constructed at the intersection of Mequon and Cedarburg Road is a joint public-private project funded by the Rotary Foundation, Village of Thiensville and City of Mequon.  The project implements several objectives of the Town Center project dating back to 2002.  The gateway signals a sense of arrival to the neighborhood and guides guests to the Village of Thiensville north of the intersection.  In addition, the feature promotes access and passive activity along the Milwaukee River.  Further, new plaza space creates an opportunity to gather and the new sidewalk, curb and cutter promotes safety among pedestrians and motorists.   Over the next few weeks as the project nears completion, an acknowledgment panel, storyboards, landscaping and lighting will be installed and heavy seeding of grass will occur.  The new sidewalk has been installed and will be open next week.  A celebration of the project is planned after completion.

Construction on Rotary Park Parking Lots Wraps Up
The Rotary Park parking lots are now substantially completed.  Despite the need for undercutting in the west parking lot and as a direct benefit of the dry weather thus far this spring, the parking lots were completed on schedule.  The reconstructed parking lots will serve as an asset to the large events returning to Rotary Park this season, including Gathering on the Green, the Jewish Food Festival, and all of the sports tournaments that user groups will be hosting.  With the potential elimination of capacity restrictions, the timing of the projects is perfect for welcoming citizens and patrons to the park.  The ancillary path paving that was completed with the project will also serve to provide safe access to other amenities within the park.

Cedarburg Road Home Demolition Rescheduled
Despite a number of delays this spring attributable to contractor and material shortages, the homes at 11236 and 11240 Cedarburg Road have now been rescheduled for demolition.  The project was delayed by the complication of securing a subcontractor to complete the lateral abandonment ahead of the demolition.  The plumbers are scheduled to complete the lateral disconnections starting Monday, June 21.  The contractor will then continue with the planned demolitions and plan to have the project completed and the site seeded by July 3.
