New Bluebird Houses Installed at the Mequon Nature Preserve
As reported in the June 25 Bulletin, the Mequon Nature Preserve (MNP) received $250 to add bluebird nest boxes to restoration areas at the Preserve.  “The goal of the small-grants program is to provide a helping hand to Bird City communities that are just a modest funding boost away from accomplishing something really great for birds,” said Bird City Wisconsin Director Chuck Hagner.  “We look forward to hearing how quickly the new nest boxes are occupied and especially what they suggest about the health of the property.”  This week, 10 new bluebird houses were installed around the Preserve.  The houses will be monitored by volunteers throughout the summer and the data will then be reported back to MNP, as well as the Wisconsin Bluebird Restoration Association.
