COVID-19 Update for the Week Ending Friday, July 10
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19.

  • As of this update, the State has 34,753 reported cases of COVID-19 and 814  associated deaths in Wisconsin. Of the cases in Wisconsin, 322 reported cases of COVID-19 and 17 related deaths are in Ozaukee County, based on information from the Washington Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD).

  • This week, WOPHD recommended that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings and when around non-household members, especially when other physical distancing measures are difficult to maintain.

  • The American Red Cross of Wisconsin is launching a free and confidential support Virtual Family Assistance Center to support families struggling with loss and grief due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The hub will also connect people to other community resources provided by non-profit and government partners. Individuals without internet access can call 833-492-0094 for help.

Foot Bridge Repair at the Mequon Public Safety Building Completed
On January 14, the Common Council awarded a contract for the repair of the failing foot bridge structure at the Public Safety Building to J. H. Hassinger, Inc. The demolition phase of the project began in mid-March, and installation of the new structural support beam was completed on April 30. The project was substantially complete on June 30. Looking ahead, the next building improvement projects that the Buildings Division is working on are remodeling of the lower level bathrooms at Fire Station 2, and replacement of two aged/failing (2-Ton) HVAC heating & cooling units at City Hall.

I-43 North-South Freeway Project Update
On April 23, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration approved and signed the re-evaluation of the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the planned I-43 expansion project.  This approval means that the original environmental decision from 2014 is still valid, and the project can proceed to final design and construction.  For more details on the project, please see the attached copy of WisDOT’s Summer newsletter.  Additional information is also available by visiting the project website
