Aldermanic Candidates File For Spring Election
Tuesday, January 7 was the deadline for those interested in running for open seats on the Council to submit their paperwork. Following are the candidates that will appear on the April 7, 2020 Spring Election ballot:

  • Alderman District 2 - Glenn Bushee
  • Alderman District 3 - Dale F. Mayr
  • Alderman District 5 - Mark T. Gierl and Gregg Bach
  • Alderman District 6 - Brian S. Parrish

The next election will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2020. The ballot will include only the primary for the Justice of the Supreme Court. Polls will be open 7:00 am – 8:00 pm. Please contact the City Clerk’s Office for all election questions.

S&P Assigns Rating to City's General Obligation Refunding Debt
On December 18, City staff participated in a teleconference with analysts from Standard & Poors Global Ratings.  The purpose was to assign a credit rating to the City’s general obligation debt in advance of the forthcoming bond issue to refund two previous outstanding debt issues.  S&P affirmed the City AA (stable) for both previously issued general obligation debt and the new issue. On Tuesday, January 14, the Finance-Personnel Committee and Common Council will take up the matter of whether to award the sale of the approximately $6.21M 2020A Refunding Bonds that will have occurred earlier that day. Mequon Police Department Engages in Social Media
The Mequon Police Department recently launched social media pages on both Facebook and Instagram. The pages will include a weekly wrap up every Monday of the activity that occurred throughout the previous week/weekend. The police department will also utilize the social media platforms to engage with and build positive relationships in the community. Followers will be updated on K9 Iron, provided useful tips on safety and traffic laws as well as kept informed with posting press releases. Please go on Facebook and “like our page.”

I-43 North – South Reconstruction Public Meeting Scheduled for January 21
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be hosting two open-house style meetings regarding updates on the I-43 reconstruction project between Silver Spring Drive to Wisconsin 60. The goal of the project is to modernize, expand, improve safety and traffic operations on I-43. The first meeting is scheduled from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on January 21 Mequon City Hall located on 111333 N. Cedarburg Road, Mequon. The second meeting is scheduled for January 22 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Nicolet High School at 6701 N. Police Department Participated in the Holiday Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign
Drunk driving is a deadly epidemic that takes the lives of more than 10,000 people each year, on average. Remember to Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. This year the police department participated from December 13 - January 1.
