City Leadership Participates in Strategic Planning Retreat
On Friday, February 11, the Mayor, members of the Common Council and Senior staff spent a full day working to identify, establish and in some instances reassert both short- and longer-term priorities for both the City organization as well as the Mequon community. Key discussion areas identified through pre-survey work and stakeholder interviews included: (1) Community Safety, (2) Customer Service, (3) Financial Stewardship, (4) Infrastructure & Technology, and (5) Quality of Life. Throughout the day, the Council and staff worked to craft initial definitions, outcomes, and strategic goals in connection with each focal point. The City’s strategic planning consultant, SBrand Solutions, is now in the process of organizing the material generated at the retreat into a draft strategic framework, that will eventually be shared with the City in the coming weeks.

Vehicle Warm-up Thefts on the Rise
During the cold winter months, drivers may be tempted to warm up their cars while they stay inside.  Please think twice before leaving one’s car running unattended.  Car thieves are on the lookout for these vehicles warming up in driveways.  If a resident is tempted to warm up their car, make sure it is locked.

Candlelight Walk-In-The-Woods Taking Place Tomorrow

Lake Michigan Water Levels Continue to Recede
As reported in the Coastal Resilience February newsletter, Lake Michigan water levels have continued their seasonal decline this fall, decreasing by about five inches from December to January. Though Lake Michigan is now approximately 28 inches below the highest monthly water level recorded for January 2020, the Lake is still about 10 inches above the long-term average water level. Water levels are expected to continue their seasonal decline through early winter but remain above the long-term average.  Read the full update here.
