LionFest to Remain in Thiensville for 2021
At the January 12 Common Council meeting, a Special Event Agreement was approved allowing for the Thiensville-Mequon Lion’s Club to hold its 2021 LionFest in Mequon’s Rotary Park.  Since the January meeting, the T-M Lion’s Club has had numerous discussions and meetings to determine if it was in the Club’s best interest to hold LionFest at Rotary in 2021, or to keep the event in its traditional location at Thiensville’s Village Park.

At the T-M Lion’s Club meeting held on February 2, the group officially voted and approved holding the 2021 event at Thiensville’s Village Park.  The following were listed as the two primary reasons for the decision: 1) Loss of revenues due to rental costs and change of venue; 2) Uncertainty of COVID-19 impact on this year’s fest and potential revenue loss due to CDC or Health Department restrictions.

While the T-M Lion’s Club still has a strong interest in moving to Rotary Park in the future, it was decided that this is not the year to make the move.  Following the vote to stay in Village Park for 2021, a committee was established within the Lion’s Club to explore opportunities to overcome the negative financial impacts of moving to Rotary Park.  Lion’s Club wishes to continue efforts to hold LionFest at Rotary Park in 2022 and shared appreciation of the time and effort put forth to date.

Water Utility Encourages ‘Adopt-a-Hydrant’ Program
In the event of a fire emergency during the winter, firefighters need to have access to a fire hydrant. Delays in locating and hooking-up to a fire hydrant can seriously hamper fire suppression operations, raise the risk of injury and may cause additional property damage. Consider adopting a fire hydrant by uncovering it and clearing a path approximately three feet around the hydrant. It is not necessary to advise the Water Utility or Fire Department about which hydrant in your neighborhood will be kept clear of snow.
