COVID-19 Update for the Week Ending Friday, December 4
The City of Mequon, in coordination with the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department and other state and federal agencies, continues to monitor the spread of COVID-19.

  • As of this afternoon, the State has recorded 404,555 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3,625  associated deaths. Of the cases in Wisconsin, 5,034 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 39 related deaths have been in Ozaukee County, based on information from the Washington/Ozaukee Public Health Department (WOPHD).

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on Wednesday, December 2, that the 14-day quarantine length for close contacts can be shortened to 7 -10 days. As long as individuals do not have any symptoms, they can end their quarantine after 7 days with a negative test result in the last 48 hours of the 7 day period or 10 days without a test. CDC states that the “gold standard” quarantine length remains 14 days, as the incubation period for the COVID-19 virus is 2- 14 days. Close contacts should monitor for symptoms each day for the full 14 days, even if they end their quarantine on days 7 – 10. Attached is a press release and additional information further explaining the CDC’s recommendation from the WOPHD.

  • On Thursday, December 3, Governor Tony Evers announced with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation that restaurants and other targeted small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will receive $45 million in assistance through a We’re All In For Restaurants, which will be managed through the Department of Revenue. The program will target businesses with annual revenues of more than $1 million and less than $7 million. Previous state grant programs have focused on businesses with annual revenues of less than $1 million.
