Preview of 8/10 Committee of the Whole & Council Meetings 
Starting at 6:45 P.M. on Wednesday, August 10, the Mequon Common Council, meeting as the Committee of the Whole, will:

  1. Hear an update on the Compensation Study for Non-Represented Positions
  2. Review Quarterly Departmental Reports

Thereafter, at 7:00 P.M., the Common Council will meet as both the City’s Sewer and Water Utility Commissions to consider:

  1. Contract award for the preparation of sewer lateral repair bid documents
  2. An amendment to the City’s Sanitary Sewer Service Area
  3. A quit claim deed, a temporary construction easement and a statement of non-reimbursement in connection with the I-43 freeway expansion project
  4. A five-year extension of the City’s current contract with City Water, LLC for operation of the Mequon Water Utility
  5. The scope of services that is to be included in a Request-for-Proposals to update the City’s 5-year Water Utility Master Plan

Starting at 7:30 P.M., the Common Council will hold its monthly meeting for August. The meeting will begin with a public hearing, and thereafter, consideration of an ordinance amending the Municipal Code to maintenance responsibilities and green infrastructure requirements in connection with the City’s certification of stormwater facilities.  A second public hearing will also be held to consider an ordinance amending the Municipal Code to allow event planning services with facilities as a permitted use in the City’s Town Center Zoning District.

Following these public hearings, the Common Council will consider a number of other items, including:

  1. A Second Amendment to the development agreement for the Artesa Development located at 1130 North Buntrock Avenue, transferring ownership to Milwaukee Dermond, LLC
  2. Amending Chapter 58 of the Municipal Code to rezone the property located at 10766 Torrey Hill Drive, to allow an 11-lot cluster subdivision (first reading)
  3. Repealing and recreating Section 2-63(d) of the Municipal Code, relating to mayoral and aldermanic vacancies
  4. Execution of a 5-year lease agreement for print & copier services with Office Technology Group in the amount of $68,340
  5. Contracts for the replacement of exterior doors at City Hall to Quality Door & Hardware LLC in the amount of $89,050 and for access upgrades to Complex Solutions, Inc. in the amount of $20,077
  6. The two sets of agreements that will be considered by the Sewer Utility Commission earlier that evening

Partisan Primary Election to Take Place on August 9
Next Tuesday, August 9, is the Partisan Primary in Mequon.  Polls are open from 7:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M.  To find your polling site, please click here.  If you are interested in becoming a poll worker, applications can be found on the City’s website.  Training will be provided prior to working an election.

2022 Road Program Update
All milling and pulverizing work are now done throughout Mequon for the 2022 construction season.  The contractor, Payne & Dolan, is currently on schedule to complete all road work throughout the City.  Pavement sealing work will begin the week of August 8.  Signs have been placed in the following areas to notify residents of the upcoming construction: Highland Road (Farmdale to Wausakee), Farmdale Road, Hunt Club Drive, Foxkirk Drive, Foxkirk Circle, Hayden Court, Stanford Drive, and Stanford Court.  The parking lot shared by the Weyenberg Library, the Mequon Community Pool, and Rennicke Field will begin its second week of construction with curb and gutter repair and then asphalt.  Visitors will need to continue parking on Cedarburg Road, Division Street, or in the parking lot behind City Hall.

Pool Season Extended to Late August
This year, the Mequon Community Pool was originally scheduled to be open through August 21. As of this week, the City has secured enough staffing to extend the pool season through Saturday, August 27.  Enjoy the extra swim time!

Jewish Food Festival on August 14 - 15
Mark your calendar for the 4th Annual Jewish Food Festival on Sunday, August 14, and Monday, August 15 from 12 P.M. – 7 P.M.   The Peltz Center for Jewish Life will be hosting the festival in Mequon’s beautiful Rotary Park, 4100 Highland Road.
