Green Infrastructure Plans Required for 5,000+ Sq. Ft.
In Mequon, any development or re-development with 5,000 square feet or more of new impervious area must have a Green Infrastructure (GI) plan submitted to the Mequon Engineering Division. GI absorbs or stores stormwater that is prevented from infiltrating into the soil by the newly-developed area, so that it doesn’t become polluted runoff or lead to localized flooding. A Green Infrastructure plan can include many different types of GI strategies chosen to best fit the site. Along with managing stormwater sustainably and providing amenities to those who live and work nearby, GI can provide short and long-term cost savings to developers and property owners. Properly chosen, sited, and installed GI can provide community benefits such as green space and reduced flooding. Dog Day at the Mequon Community Pool is Tomorrow!
At the end of summer, dog swim days are held at public swimming pools and water parks across the country, usually as the pools are closing for the summer and before they are drained. Dog Swim Days are the one time of the year when dogs are welcomed to dog paddle, fetch and play in the pool with their owners.  The City of Mequon will host its first Dog Swim Day on Saturday, August 27 from 11:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.  Bring your pups for this fun end of summer bash!

Taste of Mequon is 2 Weeks Away
Join friends, family, and neighbors on Saturday, September 10, from Noon – 9:00 P.M. for a day of fun, music, and great food at Taste of Mequon 2022.  The festival takes place in front of City Hall and this year’s band line-up includes Fallback, The WhiskeyBelles, and Orange Whips.  Remote parking is available at Homestead High School and a bus will provide round-trip service.  A special thanks to this year’s sponsors: Kohler Credit Union, Concordia University Wisconsin, Froedert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, Port Washington State Bank, Olsen’s Piggly Wiggly, Shaffer Development LLC, Mequon Thiensville Community Foundation, Sendik’s Food Markets, and Richmond Investment Services.
