City Pays Tribute to Harry John Kollman
Former City Administrator Harry John Kollman, who served in that role from 1993 – 1998, passed away this summer.  He worked for 33 years in the field of City Management in Ames IA, Jackson, MO, Riverview MI, Cocoa FL, before coming to the position in Mequon.  One of his many accomplishments was being a part of the team responsible for the new addition at City Hall.  After retiring, he continued to live in the City with his family, was an active parishioner at Lumen Christ, served as a volunteer on the Economic Development Board from 2013 – 2016, and was a National Park enthusiast.  The City of Mequon mourns the passing of this dedicated public servant and is planting a grove of trees in his memory at Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

Upcoming Events at the Community Pool
Movie Night at the pool took place on August 4 and had six times the attendance of previous years.  As noted in last week’s Bulletin, the pool will stay open until August 27 this year, rather than the original scheduled closing date of August 21.  The pool will be hosting two more events before closing.  Chalk Day will be on August 24, where families can bring their own chalk to the pool, and Dog Day will be on August 27, where patrons can bring their dogs to the pool for an end of the year bash.

MNP Adventure Explorer Packs Available for Check-out
Looking for a different way to learn while hiking the trails at the Mequon Nature Preserve? Starting on August 15, email to sign out one of their MNP Adventure Explorer Packs! Each pack is equipped with a self-guided “field trip” through their forests, prairies, and wetlands. All packs have instructions on how to do each activity and use each tool. Packs can be checked out Monday-Friday on a first come first serve basis starting at 9:00 A.M. and must be returned by 4:00 P.M. the same day. To allow other families to use the packs, families are asked to take them out for a maximum of 2 hours and treat all equipment with respect and care.  These packs are FREE to use, but donations are greatly appreciated!  This project is sponsored by Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops.

Last Heritage Day of the Summer at JCH Museum on 8/20
If you missed the first two, there is one final Heritage Day of old-fashioned fun scheduled for August 20 from 12:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at the Jonathan Clark House Museum.  The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts is the featured guest and will have a special station of activities that include historic quilts from their education collection and a magnet making project.  Other activities include yard games, complimentary snacks, rope making, butter churning, and baby animals.

Taste of Mequon is One Month Away
Taste of Mequon is quickly approaching and will take place in front of City Hall on Saturday, September 10 from noon – 9:00 P.M.  Come join in the fun and enjoy great food, music, art, and children’s activities.  There will be inflatables, balloon and caricature artists, face painting, putting practice with Missing Links, make necklaces with Little Sprouts Play Café, paint with Board & Brush, and special mascot appearances.  Volunteers are still needed, sign-up at this link.
