COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic to Be Held Tuesday, April 13
A COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic will be held at Mequon City Hall on Tuesday, April 13 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The majority of the vaccines administered will be the first dose of Moderna. To schedule an appointment, please click here to view Midland Health’s online scheduler. Vaccines will be provided at no cost, but insurance will be billed for a vaccination administration fee.  Individuals should bring a copy of a photo ID and an insurance, Medicare or Medicaid card if applicable, and a completed Midland Health consent form. Individuals without insurance are also eligible for the shot. For individuals without access to a computer, all necessary forms will be available at City Hall. The Moderna vaccine that will be administered requires two doses over a four-week period. General information about the vaccine can be found on the Centers for Disease Control’s website.  For questions about the clinic, insurance, vaccine or help with the scheduler, please call Midland Health at (262) 754-3130.  For other questions, please contact Lina Prosser at the City of Mequon by telephone at (262) 236-2941 or email at lprosser@ci.mequon.wi.us.

Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week April 12 - 16
The week of April 12-16 is Tornado & Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Emergency Management team and the five National Weather Service Forecast Offices that service Wisconsin are asking that everyone take time to review safety plans to ensure they will be ready when severe weather strikes.

Wisconsin averages 23 tornadoes per year, with most tornadoes occurring in the 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. timeframe. The busiest hours are 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The peak tornado season in Wisconsin is May through August, with June having the greatest number of tornadoes. A ‘virtual’ Statewide Tornado Drill is scheduled for April 15th and a backup date of April 16th. Last year’s tornado drill was canceled due to concerns over creating panic during the COVID-19 issues of last spring. This year, a formal drill will again not take place due to aging technology of the EAS system and some unwillingness on the part of the Broadcasters Association (the body that runs EAS) to participate. During the times of 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. no EAS broadcasts or NOAA weather alert radio tests/drills will take place. The outdoor sirens will not be activated. The National Weather Service will offer educational posts on social media and TV and radio broadcasters will provide educational spots at the appropriate times.  The Ozaukee Emergency Management team will be participating in the educational campaign.

Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony to be Held at City Hall on May 31
Representatives from the Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 recently informed the City that a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony is planned for Monday, May 31 on the front steps of Mequon City Hall, beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Legion Post voted to forego the traditional Memorial Day Parade again this year. Nonetheless, it is anticipated that several groups will participate in this year’s planned ceremonies, including the Homestead High School Marching Band, as well as local scouting organizations. As more details become available, additional updates will be shared with the community and published in upcoming editions of the Weekly Bulletin.
