State Approval of Town Center TID Project Plan Amendment
The legal requirements associated with amending the Town Center TID Project Plan are now complete. On September 13, Ehlers & Associates, on behalf of the City, made the necessary submission to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.  The submission requires evidence of proper procedure including public hearings and attendance and action by the Joint Review Board (a board representing each taxing entity). On September 19, the City received confirmation of approval by the State including that the City followed the appropriate amendment procedures under state law.  Please find attached the Department of Revenue Project Plan Approval Letter.  Records of this approval and the final, adopted Project Plan are on file with the City’s Clerk Office.

Police Department Participates in Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Initiative
The Mequon Police Department participated in the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over initiative. During the deployment from August 17 through September 3, there were a total of 183 traffic stops made for a variety of reasons. During the same 18 day deployment period in 2017, there were a total of 112 traffic stops made.  This year’s traffic stops generated the following results:

  • 171 Citations Issued (including 36 for suspended or revoked drivers, & 24 for speed violations)
  • 106 Warnings Issued
  • 4 OWI Arrests (including a 2nd offense, a 3rd offense, and a driver)
  • 9 Drug Arrests
  • 6 Warrant Arrests

Mequon Fire Department to hold Open House on Saturday, October 6
In observance of National Fire Prevention Week, the Fire Department will open its doors to the public for an exciting open house event from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. next Saturday, October 6. Families are invited to participate in fire prevention & awareness activities at the Public Safety Building located at 11300 N. Buntrock Avenue. The Open House will feature live demonstrations of fire service and EMS technology resources, fire station tours, free children’s safety activity books, and more.  Participants can meet many of the firefighters and EMS professionals that work to keep residents safe in the City of Mequon. K-9 Unit Featured in Mequon Beacon Magazine
The Mequon Police Department’s K-9 Unit is being featured in the Mequon Beacon Magazine’s October issue. The article dives into the community fundraising that led to the financial support for establishing the first K-9 Unit to its current team of Officers Jake Schiller and his partner Iron, a German Shepherd. Correct Community Pool Attendance for 2016
A previous issue of the City of Mequon Weekly Bulletin stated the 2016 pool attendance was 6,380. The community pool had 12,943 attendees during the 2016 season.
