City Utilizes Bypass Pumping During Rain Event
Due to rain on Wednesday, October 2, the City experienced an overflow at the lift station located at 2020 Ranch Road, which required bypass pumping of the sanitary sewer system. The overflows from the rain occurred from approximately 12:10 A.M. to 3:40 A.M.  Bypass pumping is used to prevent basement backups and avoid potential private property damage. This is an area of historic surcharging in major wet weather and flooding events. The lift station is scheduled for condition assessment in 2020 to evaluate potential upgrades and improvements.  In addition, the City's East Trunk Relief Sewer completed this summer added inline storage capacity to the sanitary sewer system, which helps alleviate the need for bypass pumping. Currently, no backups have been reported to the City.

City Gearing Up for Office365 Launch
Later this month, the City will be implementing Office365. This transition will replace outdated Office products with the latest cloud supported version and will stay current from this point forward. Additionally, the costs associated with the onsite Exchange Email server’s hardware, software, licensing, maintenance, support, and backup will be eliminated when the transition to the cloud is complete. The cloud model will safeguard the City from any physical issues or incidents at a City facility that would have otherwise impacted the City’s ability to maintain operations. The new Office365 software will allow users to continue to use remote access.

The planned rollout of the Office365 product will begin October 8 and be phased in by groups/departments throughout the rest of the month. The biggest changes will be the visual interface and navigation from the current system, to the latest versions of the software. This major upgrade will allow for higher levels of productivity and improve the City’s ability to communicate with the public.
