City Recruiting Elections Inspectors
Would you like to work as an Election Inspector for the City of Mequon? The City is currently recruiting for qualified people to work as Elections Inspectors for the 2020 elections, including the Presidential election. To qualify, you must be a U.S. Citizen, resident of Ozaukee County, at least 18 years of age, not currently serving a sentence including probation or parole for a felony conviction, and not otherwise disqualified from voting. This is a paid position and training is provided. Please complete the Election Inspector application and return it to the City Clerk’s office at City Hall or stop in Monday through Friday and pick up an application.

Police Department participates in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign
The 2019 national enforcement mobilization "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" event went into effect across the country from August 14 to September 2. One of the deadliest and most often committed,  yet preventable, of crimes (impaired driving), has become a serious safety epidemic in around the country. Law enforcement professionals and highway safety advocates, efforts helped reduce the number of crashes and fatalities due to impaired driving. The results from Mequon Police Department deployment for the initiative are as follows:

  • 311 Traffic stops were conducted

  • 177 Total citations were issued, some of these consisted of;

    • 16 Seatbelt violations

    • 26 Speeding violations

    • 25 Revoked or suspended drivers (cited or arrested)

  • 246 Warnings were issued for other various traffic violations

  • 2 Operating while Impaired arrests were made

  • 5 Drug arrests were made (2 felonies, including heroin possession)

  • 2 Misdemeanor arrests

  • 7 Warrant arrests

In the two weeks following the Drive Sober enforcement initiative, the Police Department completed an additional 11 speed enforcement deployment, which totaled just over 9 hours of enforcement time. These deployments resulted in an additional 41 speeding citations, 15 speed warnings, 3 Operating while suspended/operating without a license, and 5 other miscellaneous citations.

Community-Wide Trick-or-Treat Scheduled for October 27
This year the City’s community-wide trick-or-treat is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 27. This spooktacular event does not preclude any other neighborhood, association, or local holiday events taking place on another day.

Community-Wide Recycling Event Scheduled for October 19
As a reminder, the City’s last Appliance, Electronic & Lawn Equipment Recycling event for 2019 is October 19. The event will be held from 9:00 A.M. - Noon in the parking lot of the Public Works Building, 10800 N. Industrial Drive. Please click here to view the flyer for more information. For questions about recycling or the event please contact the sponsors listed on the flyer. Please note that there is a posted detour for traffic attempting to enter N. Industrial Drive from Mequon Road, which will lead motorist around the construction zone and find their way to the Public Works Building.
