Federal Highway Administration Denies Further Consideration of Partial Interchange
At its meeting on September 10, the Common Council approved a resolution supporting a petition to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for a partial interchange at County Line Road. Through e-mail correspondence with City staff, WisDOT has confirmed that FHWA will not reconsider the partial interchange. According to the correspondence from FHWA to WisDOT, “Per our discussion, and since conditions in the corridor have not changed, the FHWA position as stated in our 7/18/2014 letter to WisDOT still stands.” In further correspondence sent to the City Administrator, WisDOT will host an update meeting in January 2020 to provide additional project information. It further indicates WisDOT will send out invitations specific to the agency coordination meeting approximately 3 to 4 weeks in advance. City staff will continue to provide information as it becomes available. Please see attached letter from the Federal Highway Administration dated July 18, 2014.  Residents interested in following the project can click here for updates on WisDOT’s website.

Kaitlyn Krueger Appointed to be City’s Next Finance Director
Last week, the Mequon Common Council unanimously approved a recommendation to name Kaitlyn M. Krueger as the City’s next Finance Director/City Treasurer. Ms. Krueger, who has worked for the City since April 2017 as both a Utility Accountant and Assistant to the Finance Director, will succeed current Finance Director Thomas Watson upon his retirement December 31, 2019.

In recommending her appointment to the Common Council, City Administrator William Jones noted Ms. Krueger was the top overall choice amongst six finalists interviewed for the position by three panels comprised of sixteen individuals from both inside and outside the organization. He stated that “throughout the selection process, Kaitlyn distinguished herself from a pool of extremely well-qualified candidates. Staff and the Common Council look forward to working with her as she assumes responsibility for managing the day-to-day finances of the City. I am confident she will do an outstanding job on behalf of the entire community, and that she will continue to lead efforts at improving the way the City does business for the benefit of all concerned.”

Ms. Krueger, a Cedarburg native, brings both public sector and private sector experience to the job. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and will earn a Master’s Certificate in Public Budgeting & Financial Management from Penn State University next month. Additionally, Ms. Krueger is in the process of finalizing her licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States & Canada.

Other items were given to the Milwaukee Admirals to be donated to the United Way.
