J.M. Allmendinger Shipwreck Enters Registers of Historic Places
The J.M. Allmendinger (steambarge) shipwreck located 2.5 miles south of Concordia University is now a part of the National Register of Historic Places and listed in the State Register of Historic Places.  The steambarge ran aground 11/26/1895 during a gale and blizzard. The steambarge, bound to Milwaukee from Sturgeon Bay with a load of lumber, was blown off course and went ashore on a rocky beach. Captain Peterson and his eight-man crew were safely removed by  a life-saving crew. Please see the attached notice from the Wisconsin Historical Society to learn more about the new historic designation.

Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 4
Don't forget to set clocks back by one hour on or before Sunday, November 4, as daylight savings draws to a close. Also, the additional time gives everyone an extra hour to improve home safety by checking smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries, restocking home emergency kit(s), and checking furnace and air filters.
