Contractors Complete Turn Lane on Mequon Road
On Thursday, May 16, the eastbound turn lane on Mequon Road into the Spur 16 development was reopened. Next week, the contractor will be closing a lane on westbound Mequon Road to remove and replace curb and gutter in front of the St. Paul Fish Market. Work is expected to take a couple of weeks and is weather dependent.

City Hall Parking Lot Construction Moves Forward
As with most construction projects, there are unforeseen challenges. The City Hall parking lot project experienced its first challenge this month. On May 3, the contractor accidentally hit the water lateral to the Frank. L Weyenberg Library while installing the storm sewer. The lateral was repaired and water service restored to the Library within hours. Staff has been working with the contractor to develop a solution to the alignment of the storm sewer and crossing the water lateral. Several options were evaluated last week. The most economical and timely solution is to realign the water lateral and maintain the storm sewer alignment. Construction will resume on the parking lot the week of May 20. The parking lot project is still expected to be completed by Labor Day. In the interim, the Buildings Division of the Public Works Department was able to empty and begin preparing the pool for the upcoming pool season. The storm sewer that had been installed as part of the parking lot project prior to the water lateral crossing was helpful in accomplishing draining the City’s pool.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Responders Resuscitate Patient
Last week the Fire Department received a call from the Pavilions on Port Washington Road for an individual who suffered a cardiac arrest. Up arrival, EMS Responders began lifesaving measures and were able to resuscitate the individual who had stopped breathing. The individual was then transported by ambulance to Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee for further medical treatment. The individual would not have been brought back without the quick response and medical treatment from EMS Responders.
