Range Line Road Temporary Closure for Tree Removal
As posted on the road last week, Range Line Road will be closed the week of April 2 to accommodate tree removal. The trees are in a quantity and scale that they cannot safely be removed with traffic on the road. The road will be closed intermittently during the day, but open each night.  The week of April 2 was selected to avoid major impacts on the schools, which will be on spring break that week. The road will not be closed on April 3 to keep it open for the election.  Department of Public Works crews will provide access to local residents as required.

17 Residents Graduate from Citizens Police Academy
The Mequon Police Department wrapped up its 20th annual Citizens Police Academy with a graduation ceremony on Thursday night.  The 6-week class taught 17 local residents all about the day-to-day job of being a police officer. Congratulations on another successful class! (Picture Attached)

Ozaukee County Transit Planning Efforts Continue
At the request of Ozaukee County, SEWRPC is preparing a short-range, 5-year plan for public transit in the County. It will include recommendations for transit service improvements for the Ozaukee County Transit System over the study period, 2019-2023. To provide guidance to technical staff during the preparation of this plan, and to involve public officials and citizen leaders more directly in the development of transit service policies and improvement proposals, an Advisory Committee was previously appointed by the Chair of the County Board. The Advisory Committee, which includes the Mayor and Director of Community Development, is responsible for proposing to Ozaukee County and SEWRPC a plan identifying recommended improvements over the 5-year planning window. To date, a series of possible alternatives for future transit services have been designed to improve the performance of the Ozaukee County Transit System based on the evaluation of the transit system’s performance, and in careful consideration of the comments and ideas related to this planning effort received from the Advisory Committee, Ozaukee County businesses, and the public. The alternatives are organized into three categories: employment-related transit services targeting Ozaukee County businesses; Ozaukee County Express service alternatives; and Shared-Ride Taxi service alternatives; more information on the draft service alternatives can be found here. Also attached is a letter of support that was sent to the Advisory Committee last week, expressing the City’s support for expanding transit options within Mequon to include Town Center, the City’s Industrial Park, MATC’s North Campus and Concordia University, among others.
