East Trunk Sewer Contractors to Begin Restoration
The East Trunk Sewer contractor, Minger Construction, achieved the first milestone for the relief sewer project on time and on budget, and the first diversion structure is now connected to help alleviate capacity issues.  Construction continues on the next two diversion structures and the last roughly 1,400 feet remaining of relief sewer in Stone Creek Drive. In addition, crews are planning restoration activities to the surface of the disturbed areas.  Restoration is planned to begin in April once the nursery opens to plant trees. Construction activities in the Ravine, Orchard Highlands and Katherine Kearney Park areas were nearly complete last fall. However, the weather turned cold prior to the ground drying out after a wet fall, which delayed tree planting until this spring. Restoration activities will continue through May and June, with final punch list items set for completion prior to the July 4 holiday. Part of the restoration includes installation of a new parking lot in Katherine Kearney Park along Zedler Lane due to the existing condition of the parking lot and the impacts of heavy construction equipment on the parking lot.

Fire Department Sees Savings from Online Competitive Bidding
The Fire Department saved $2,356 on the cost of an extractor, an industrial washing machine that specially designed to clean firefighting gear, using a new tool from the Finance Department called GovQuote.us. GovQuote is a free online bidding provider for governmental agencies to request quotes from companies around the nation. The Finance Department put the extractor’s specification on the GovQuote website and within hours received quotes from several companies. The winning bidder, in this case, was a vendor out of Green Bay.
