Fire Department Responds to Stranded Residents
The Fire Department assisted residents out of their home located on West Pioneer Road on Monday, February 26. An ice dam on the Milwaukee River caused the driveway leading to their property to flood with about three feet of water. The residents originally wanted to wait out the flooding but became concerned when large pieces of ice floated past their home. The Fire Department used a boat to remove the residents safely.

City Restructures Parks Division Staff
Since the retirement of former Parks & Operations Director Don Curran late last year, City staff has engaged in several meetings to strategically address this vacancy within the larger context of the Department’s day-to-day operations. This review has since culminated in the creation of a Parks & Forestry Superintendent position, in order to better align like functions associated with managing the City’s natural resources. This new position has recently been assumed by former City Forester Mike Gies. Additionally, administrative support duties are being redistributed to existing staff to ensure the Parks Division is supported long-term.

Public Meeting on Proposed Improvements along WIS 57 scheduled for Monday, March 5
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is hosting a public involvement meeting to discuss the proposed improvements along WIS 57 (Green Bay Road), which runs north to south through the City of Mequon. The proposed changes include improving 3.4 miles of WIS 57 from Mequon Road running south to Teutonia Avenue in the Village of Brown Deer and a new at-grade signalized intersection at the WIS 57 and Brown Deer Road intersection. The meeting will be an open house format with WisDOT representatives available to discuss the proposed project in detail. Attendees may stop in at their convenience and view exhibits, meet with project staff, ask questions, and provide feedback. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
