City Issues Community Alert For Milwaukee River Levels
The Milwaukee River has reached an elevation of 15.03 feet at its Pioneer Road monitoring station. This level exceeds the record river elevation of 13.98 feet recorded at this location in 2008, and is attributable to the recent rains, melting snow and the formation of ice dams on the Milwaukee River. It is anticipated the ice dams on the Milwaukee River will break up as pressure increases and warm weather continues to melt the ice.

In response to these events, the Mequon Police Department sent emergency notifications to affected residents via Hyper-Reach, the City’s emergency notification system (sign up here). Complimentary sandbagging materials and supplies are available 24 hours a day through this weekend to Mequon residents and businesses at the City’s Public Works Department Building at 10800 Industrial Drive, should it become necessary to protect private residences and property. Please click here to view the City’s Community Alert for more information.

Donges Bay Road Quiet Zone Update
On March 5, City staff applied for a Notice of Establishment for a Partial Quiet Zone at Donges Bay Road beginning April 8. Signs indicating that trains do not sound horns will be installed at the crossing in late March/early April. Residents may still be able to hear the horn sounds at Zedler Lane and Mequon Road due to the proximity to the intersection. Trains may also sound horns at Donges Bay Road when required by railroad safety standards.

Clerk’s Office Publishing Condensed Meeting Minutes
In an effort to be more responsive to the public, city staff began posting condensed minutes for City Council meetings on the City’s website earlier this year.  These minutes reflect the action taken by the Council at each meeting and are available the day after the meeting.   Viewing the City Council, Planning Commission, Committee of the Whole, Water Utility Commission, Sewer Utility Commission and Appropriation meetings either live or after the meeting concludes, is also an option.  Please visit YouTube, the City’s website, or channel 25 if you are a Spectrum customer.
