Fire Department Hires Interns
The next group of interns for the 2018/2019 school year started June 1. The Fire Department has hired a total of 6 interns. Half of the interns will be on the job until the end of 2018 and the other 3 interns will be serving until the end of May in 2019. The interns provide the City with the ability to staff ambulances on both sides of the city when needed and have one additional personnel available for fire calls 24/7. In return, the City pays a $500 monthly stipend to each intern and provides sponsorship for EMT-Basic as well as other State of Wisconsin fire certification classes.

Three Newly Promoted and Hired Employees on the Job in the Public Works Department
Over the last several months, the Public Works Department and the Human Resources Division have been hard at work to address a number of vacancies. After vetting 22 applicants for Fleet Superintendent, Todd Zeller was selected to fill the position. Todd has worked for the City as a Mechanic for about 32 years and comes to his new position with a wealth of knowledge. Additionally, Wayne Peters has formally assumed the role of Buildings Superintendent. Wayne was previously the City’s Buildings Foreman and had been fulfilling many of the Buildings Superintendent responsibilities for about two years while the position was vacant. With Wayne formally assuming the Buildings Superintendent role, the Buildings Foreman position has been eliminated.  Last, but not least, the City has hired a new Building Maintenance Worker to fill a vacancy created as a result of a voluntary resignation earlier this year. Amy Zollinski comes to the City from Washington County Youth Hockey Association where she worked as an Assistant Rink Manager and Amy also worked with the City for six summers as a seasonal employee for the Parks and Highway Divisions.

Financial Audit RFP
The current five-year contract with the City’s audit firm, Baker Tilly, expired with this week’s delivery of the FY2017 audit report. Finance staff plans to issue an RFP for audit services for fiscal years 2018-22 later this summer.
