Police Department Reminds Residents to Lock Motor Vehicles
The Mequon Police Department would like to remind residents to lock motor vehicles when they are not in use. There has been an increase in thefts from motor vehicles, two stolen vehicles, and one burglary report. It does not appear the suspects break in, rather they find vehicles that are unlocked and have keys in them. Please lock motor vehicles, do not leave keys or valuables in vehicles, and remove garage door openers from vehicles if they are left outside. The Mequon Police Department is implementing extra measures to catch the individuals involved in these crimes as well. Please see the Police Department’s attached news release for more details.

Human Resources Reexamines Seasonal Employee Requirements for Public Works
It has been a long-standing requirement that all seasonal Parks Division and Highway Division employees must be 18 years of age or older. After review and verification with legal counsel, it was determined that 16 and 17-year-olds could be permitted to do the vast majority of tasks as well, without restrictions. As a result, the City was able to hire its first seasonal Parks and Highway employee under the age of 18. Going forward, the removal of the age requirement expands the potential applicant pool, allowing the City to fill seasonal staffing needs in a more timely fashion.

Milwaukee Water Works, one of the City of Mequon’s two water sources, has issued their 2017 CCR. Click here to read the report.
