Increase in Citations Processed by the Mid-Moraine Municipal Court
Last week the Mid-Moraine Municipal Court issued its most recent financial summary. As of May 2018, the City has seen an additional 170 citations processed or a 15% increase over the same point last year. The increase in citations processed through May has resulted in a $1,798.40 increase in fines paid to the City.

2018 City Pool Attendance Remains Steady
After opening for the season in early June, the Community Pool was open 23 of 30 days in June. However, the pool closed early 13 days due to weather or low attendance. Pool pass sales for June were $38,720. The pool saw 2,585 swimmers during June, which is a 190 less than the same time in 2017. Looking forward, Movie Night will be held on August 16 and will feature Surf’s Up, a family-friendly animated film. The pool will remain open until August 25 or 26. This date is similar to surrounding pools and is contingent upon the continued availability of staff.

Officer Doug Cook Named Mequon Police Department’s New Patrol Sergeant
Police Officer Doug Cook has been selected by Chief Dan Buntrock to become the Department’s newest Patrol Sergeant. Cook started his law enforcement career as a Police Officer with the Village of Thiensville. Cook then joined the Mequon Police Department in March of 2011 as a Patrol Officer. During his service, Cook has held special assignments including, but not limited to, a member of the Ozaukee County Anti-Drug Task Force, DAT Instructor and Firearms Instructor. Cook’s promotional ceremony will be held at 8:15 A.M. on Thursday, August 2, in the lower level of the Public Safety Building at 11300 North Buntrock Avenue.

Clerk’s Office Conducts Training Session on Meeting Minutes Preparation
This week the City Clerk provided training to all staff whose responsibility it is to write minutes for various city governmental bodies. The training focused on producing accurate, professional and concise minutes, thereby minimizing the content of such documents to actual directions given or action taken by a particular body. The goal for all staff is to have a consistent format that captures the essence of the meeting without being repetitious or including unnecessary content, such as verbatim discussion or dialog.  The Clerk’s Office will continue to work with recording secretaries to implement the new protocols thorough out the remainder of 2018.

Officials Receive Invitation to Wright House Senior Living’s Grand Opening

Business of the Year Awards & Economic Forecast Breakfast
Ozaukee Economic Development (OED) Council will host its annual Business of the Year Awards & Economic Forecast Breakfast on Thursday, September 20 from 7:30 A.M. – 9:15 A.M. at the Ozaukee Pavilion in Cedarburg. This year, two businesses with offices in Mequon (Sommer’s Automotive and First Bank Financial Centre) will be among the three businesses recognized. Mayoral proclamations recognizing Sommer’s Automotive and First Bank Financial Centre will be prepared and presented to both respective businesses.

Free Appliance and Electronics Recycling Event Scheduled for Saturday, July 28
