Donges Bay Road Repaving Project Moves into Second Phase
The Donges Bay Road repaving project between Wauwatosa and Cedarburg Roads continues, as the first phase of work was completed last week by the City’s road contractor, Payne & Dolan. As part of the first phase, deteriorated pavement in the curb and gutter segments of the road were milled out to a depth of 3". Additionally, pavement in open ditch and gravel shoulder areas of the road were pulverized, graded, and compacted into a new, stronger road base. The first layer of new asphalt was then paved on both segments.

The next steps in the process will include limited curb and gutter replacement, utility manhole adjustments, and driveway milling to prepare for the final layer of asphalt paving, which is currently scheduled to begin on July 18.

TID #3 Project Plan Amendment Process Moving Forward
The Joint Review Board will meet next Tuesday to initiate the Town Center TID Project Plan Amendment process. This work is in progress and is based on the Council’s majority interest to consider a development incentive for the Foxtown Master Plan Development in the Town Center. The draft plan will then proceed to the Planning Commission on July 23 and the Common Council in August. The plan is being amended to legally authorize the Council to make additional expenditures for the Town Center neighborhood, as it may determine. If approved, the plan does not obligate the City to make any additional expenditures. The draft plan lists original projects referenced in the 2008 plan, with updated costs and expenditures for a pay-as-you-go incentive. Any future expenditure from the TID requested or desired by the Council will require separate and specific approvals. The August Council meeting will also accommodate the Council’s ability to prioritize projects should it wish to do so at this time.

District 3 Polling Site Relocated
District 3 voters in wards 5 - 7b who have historically voted at the Public Safety Building will now cast ballots at Trinity Lutheran Church, 11757 N. Granville Road. The change in location was initiated due to the Spur 16 construction that is taking place adjacent to the Public Safety Building, and the project’s potential disruption to the voting process. This change is effective with the upcoming statewide primary election on August 14 and will remain in effect through 2019. All residents in District 3 are in the process of being notified by the City Clerk’s Office. Looking ahead, absentee voting will be taking place in the Clerk’s Office beginning on July 23, and will continue during regular business hours until 5:00 p.m. on August 10.

Southeastern Wisconsin Coastal Resilience (SWCR) Project Launches Website
Erosion, coastal storms and fluctuating water levels on Lake Michigan can threaten coastal properties and impair assets important to tourism and commerce. In response, the Southeastern Wisconsin Coastal Resilience Project was formed to provide resources and assistance to communities in Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha Counties. Staff at the SWCR recently launched a new website in connection with this initiative; the site includes information on the project, coastal resilience topics, and other helpful resources aimed at addressing and preparing for coastal hazards. Please click here to explore the site. For social media users, there is also an associated Twitter account @sewiresilience.
