The two with the highest votes will move on to the April 2 Spring Election.  Also on the April 2 ballot will be Robert J. Partial Railroad Quiet Zone Nears Completion
The Engineering Division has been working towards a partial quiet zone (10:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M.) at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Donges Bay Road, east of Port Washington Road. The establishment of a partial quiet zone letter was sent to the jurisdictional agencies on January 2. The partial quiet zone is established no earlier than 21 days after the letters are issued.  Residents may still be able to hear the horn sounds at Zedler Lane and Mequon Road due to the proximity to the intersection. Trains may also sound horns at Donges Bay Road when required by railroad safety standards.

East Trunk Sewer Work ahead of Schedule
The contractor, Minger Construction, tunneled and installed over 6,000 feet of sewer since May 2018, and is nearly two-thirds complete with the project. Tunneling along Port Washington Road is finished. This month tunneling along Donges Bay Road will begin, and Stone Creek Drive will be next. In addition, work on the ‘diversion’ structures to connect the existing sanitary sewer system to the new relief sewer will begin this month at the intersection of Zedler Lane and Port Washington Road. Last fall restoration was delayed in Katherine Kearney Carpenter Park due to the above average rainfall, however park access remains open from the Katherine Drive entrance. During the winter/spring 2019, the contractor will be shifting major operations from the park to a staging area located at a vacant site along Donges Bay Road adjacent to the freeway. The new staging area is closer for the contractor to complete the remainder of the sewer work.

Additionally, City staff continues outreach with property owners and businesses in the East Trunk Sewer project corridor. There have been a limited number of complaints about dust, street sweeping, noise, vibrations and questions about hours of operation. Overall the project has been without major issues to date. For more information, please view the project details on the City’s website by clicking here.
