2019 Tax Bills Now Available
2019 Tax Bills were posted online on November 26. Ozaukee County’s mailing service is handling the printing and mailing of the physical bills. The bills can be expected to be delivered over the next few days. Due to levy increases in most jurisdictions, the City expects many property owners will see an increase from last year in their total tax bill. The lottery credit increased and the sewer district levy decreased this year offsetting some of these increases. For information on City Hall collection hours, BMO Harris Bank collection hours, dog licenses and more, please see the enclosed copy of the insert that is being mailed with the bills.

Planning Commission Continues Electronic Message Board Policy
At the December 2 Planning Commission meeting, the Commissioners addressed a sign policy interest related to expanding the use of electronic message boards. Currently, the use of these signs is limited to entities that provide a public service or message such as the library, schools, public administration offices, religious institutions, theatres and concert halls. The Commission discussed broadening the use to retail, restaurants and other commercial entities. The Commission ultimately decided to maintain the current code standards due to concerns of aesthetics, proliferation, and advancements in technology that may quickly create outdated signs. The Commission concluded that the intent to use this for a public benefit versus commercial benefit should be upheld.

Police Department Aids Concordia Student & Lakeshore Regional Child Advocacy Center (LRCAC)
Sergeant Graycarek, Sergeant Rudolph, Officer Mueller, and Chief Pryor participated in a Service-Learning Project with a goal of donating no-sew/tie blankets to the LRCAC. This organization works with law enforcement and child protection services in order to investigate and bring advocacy to survivors of child abuse in Ozaukee County. LRCAC gives the blankets to children as a source of comfort in trying times. This project was planned by a senior at Concordia University studying Psychology and Justice & Public Policy. This November event also had community participation with a great turnout. The officers donated their time making several blankets at Concordia.
