City Offices Close For the Holidays
Please note, non-emergency City Offices will be closed Monday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 25, in observance of Christmas. Additionally, non-emergency City Offices will be closed at noon on Monday, December 31 and all day on Tuesday, January 1 in observance of the New Year.

Fire Department Extinguishes Barn Fire
On Monday, December 17, at about 3:00 P.M., the Fire Department responded to a barn fire on W. Hawthorne Road.  An ember from a brush pile started a fire on the outside structure of the barn.  The fire was contained to the upper third of the barn and roof.  Mutual aid was requested from surrounding communities, and a water shuttle was set up to tank water in from the intersection of Wauwatosa Road and Mequon Road.  There were no injuries and no animals in the barn.  The Fire Department was on scene for about an hour and a half.

City Promotes Employee in Community Development Department
The 2019 budget provides funding for a new Permit Coordinator in the Community Development Department. Over the last month’s, the City Administrator’s Office and the Department of Community Development have been working to fill the newly created Permit Coordinator position. Karen Heil has accepted the promotion to become Department’s new Permit Coordinator. Ms. Heil has been with the City since 2012 and brings a wealth of knowledge to the new position.  Ms. Heil will assume her new position on January 1 and the City will begin the search for a new individual to fill the full-time Administrative Assistant position being vacated by Karen.

Community Blood Drive Scheduled for Friday, December 28
The Mequon Police Department is hosting a Community Blood Drive from 7:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. on Friday, December 28. The event will be located at Mequon City Hall at 11333 North Cedarburg Road. Click here to sign up online or call 877-232-4376 to reserve a time slot.

Christmas Tree Pick-up
The City’s Public Works Department will be picking up Christmas trees throughout the month of January. Residents can place trees on the roadside next to their mailbox and staff will collect the trees.

No Weekly Bulletin Next Week
Due to the shortened week with City Hall being closed on December 24 and 25, the weekly bulletin will not be published next week. Distribution will resume beginning Friday, January 4.
