City Receives Letter of Gratitude from Family Sharing
Earlier this month, the City received the attached letter from Julie Hoover, the Executive Director of Family Sharing, in which she thanked the City for hosting a food collection event in November that resulted in 145 pounds of food items donated. Thank you to all who contributed.

City Earns Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The City of Mequon has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2017 comprehensive annual financial report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Please see the City’s attached press release for further details.

Planning Commission Member Receives Award
Victory Homes of Wisconsin, Inc. President, John Stoker, and City of Mequon Planning Commission Member, was named the 2018 Builder of the Year by the Metropolitan Builders Association at its annual Achievement Awards and Installation Dinner on November 30. The MBA’s Builder of the Year award has been given to one outstanding builder each year since 1953.

Holiday Gift Wrapping Fundraiser Set for this Sunday, December 16
Join the Mequon Police Department for its annual Holiday Gift Wrapping Fundraiser to benefit Advocates of Ozaukee from 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 16. Bring holiday gifts to City Hall at 11333 N. Cedarburg Road and have them wrapped by Police Department Personnel for a donation. Treats and cocoa will be available to enjoy while gifts are being wrapped. Please click here to learn more about the event.

Fire Engine Sent Out for Repairs
A fire engine was involved in an accident last week at the fuel pumps at the City’s Public Works facility. There were no injuries; however, the fire engine suffered damage to a compartment door that will require the vehicle being sent out for repairs. The Fire Department will review its training program and driving policies to ensure safe driving is a priority. The Fire Department’s operations will not be negatively impacted while the engine is out for repairs.

Library Announces Holiday Hours and Films
Frank L. Weyenberg Library will be closed December 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday, and December 31 and January 1 for the New Year's holiday. Otherwise, the Library is open all regular hours, including Sunday afternoons.  Also, need a break from holiday celebrations? Visit the Frank L. Weyenberg Library for some free films, perfect for the entire family.  Sunday, December 19, at 1:30 P.M., see Mame, starring Lucille Ball.  Friday, December 21, at 3:00 P.M., see A Wrinkle in Time.
