August 14 Partisan Primary Sees High Voter Turnout
The statewide Partisan Primary took place on Tuesday with a much higher voter turnout than expected.  The Wisconsin Election Commission predicted a 15% turnout.  But in Mequon 41% of registered voters came out to vote.  The next election will be held on Tuesday, November 6.

Assistant to the Finance Director Accepts New Position
Shawn Hart has chosen to take the next step in his career with Baker Tilly. Mr. Hart’s last day with the City will be September 5. The City is grateful for Mr. Hart’s contributions during his time with the Finance Department. The City Administrator’s Office, Finance Department, and Human Resources Division are working to develop a plan to address the upcoming vacancy.

Chief of Police Recruitment Process Continues
The Police and Fire Commission will be meeting next week Wednesday, August 22, to finalize the interview questions for the semifinalist interviews. Five candidates will be interviewed during the evenings of September 11 and September 13. This round of interviews is being held at Concordia University, after which the Police and Fire Commission will complete the final steps of the selection process and extend an offer in October.

Mark your calendars for Taste of Mequon
Held since 2013, the TASTE is Mequon's flagship event with restaurants, an entertainment stage, beverage stands, and fun activities for kids drawing over 6,000 to the City Square. There is no charge for admission or entertainment. The event is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. on September 8 right in front of City Hall at 11333 N Cedarburg Road Mequon. Community Events Coming Up Just Around the Corner

  • On , August, 18, from 12:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. the Friends of Jonathan Clark House will be hosting Heritage Days at the Jonathon Clark House, which is on 13615 N. Cedarburg Rd. Participants can step back in time and learn more about early settler life and take part in activities.

  • On Sunday, August 19, the Trinity Freistadt Historical Society will host an Ice Cream Social and Model T Ford Show at 11823 N. Church Place, from 11:15 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. Sandwiches will be available for purchase as well. Twelve historical buildings will be open to tour, including a working blacksmith and special displays about the Alte Kameraden and toys of the past. Enjoy the vintage cars from the Dairyland Tin Lizzies Chapter of the Model-T Ford Club of America.
