Additional information will be posted on the City’s website through the duration of the project.

Fire Department Completes Audit
On Thursday, April 4, the Fire Department underwent an audit from the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services to confirm compliance with SPS 314 and State Statute 101.575. The audit consisted of reviewing inspection, prevention, public education and training records along with fire reports and other Fire Department statutory requirements for the calendar year of 2018. There were no deficiencies found making the City eligible for its yearly disbursement of $168,000 from the State of Wisconsin.

City Ambulances Pass State Inspections
On Wednesday, April 10, the Mequon Fire Department passed its biennial ambulance inspection from the State of Wisconsin. Every two years all ambulances are inspected by the Department of Transportation for proper equipment, expiration date of supplies, medication inventory, and mechanical operability of the vehicles.

Quiet Zone Now In Place
The quiet zone has been approved at Donges Bay road and will begin on Friday, April 12.  Residents may still be able to hear the horn sounds at Zedler Lane and Mequon Road due to the proximity to the intersection. Trains may also sound horns at Donges Bay Road when required by railroad safety standards.

Community Development Finds Opportunity for Other Departments
With the Spur 16 project well underway and the Foxtown development coming to fruition, the Community Development Department is busier than ever. Amid this busy time, the Inspections Division of the Department was able to help a Mequon resident in a task that has benefited both the resident and the community. A house was set to be razed but before doing so the Division was able to help the homeowner get into contact with Habitat for Humanity, who removed resources from house to put towards future projects, while also keeping useable material out of landfills. In addition, the Division also coordinated with the Police Department to use the house as a site for SWAT training.

Cedarburg Road and Green Bay Road Construction Underway
The Hoff Group is working on making storm sewer connections for the development just north of Thiensville this week.  The contractor is making the connection on Cedarburg Road first and will be closing lanes of traffic in order to make the connection.  Only one lane of traffic will be closed at a time and flaggers will be directing traffic around the work zone.  A similar connection needs to be made on Green Bay Road.  The contractor will be doing the work on Green Bay Road when Cedarburg Road is reopened.  Flaggers will also direct traffic on Green Bay Road.  Both connections are expected to be completed within a week; however, the work is weather dependent.

Mequon Road Turn Lane Construction Begins Next Week
The Spur 16 development will be starting to work on Mequon Road Eastbound between Buntrock Avenue and Industrial Drive to install a left turn lane into the development.  The work is anticipated to be completed with a few weeks and is weather dependent.
